Happy New Year 🥂

The first issue of 2023 covers a crucial challenge businesses and startups face when they undertake MVP development. Let’s take a look.

The Progress Hot Potato 🥔

Developing a minimum viable product and getting it right the first time around is no easy feat.

A project has its vision, ambition, deadline, and pre-determined scope. The working milieu is dynamic & ever-changing. Markets evolve, clients rethink strategies, and multiple analysis stages call for iterations. Creating a successful product will mean weaving your way through a maze of uncertainties. Unplanned additions or changes can lead to what we call ‘Scope Creep.’

You can keep your MVP development on track by identifying, controlling, and even preventing scope creep. As a valued subscriber, we are sharing with you, our tactical approach to controlling MVP Scope Creep in this practice guide. You can access the guide here, for free.

The Insights Chili 🌶

In December, I watched the Portugal vs Morocco football World Cup Quarter-Final.

While it was a historic night for Morocco, beating Portugal and reaching the semi-finals — a first ever for an African nation, the win did not appear from thin air.

Both teams had a game plan — a tactical approach to try to best each other.

While Portugal, as everyone had speculated, took charge of the play and tried to play on the offense, Morocco on the other hand sat back, fending off the tactical attacks by the playmakers of Portgual.

Portugal won the UEFA Euro 2016. And in the world cup, they have always reached the semi-finals should they reach the Quarter-Final stages of the competition.

How? On the back of a solid game plan — on the back of great creativity, character, and brilliant performances.

And yet, as the final whistle goes off, the clock resets — afresh planning, refreshed strategies, and changes in personnel and approach lay the bedrocks for the next game.

No matter how experienced a side is, no matter how well-prepared, the team structure and setup decides the victor.

If Morocco can stun heavy-weights like Spain and Belgium, that is no fluke.

Regragui is highly respected for his tactical discipline and man-management. Two key areas that also make an MVP successful.

If reaching the World-Cup semi-finals for the first time is a cause to celebrate, then so is getting the MVP right the first time.

When it comes to building an MVP, the goal is to fail fast, and find errors in the implementation of your vision. If 90% of experiments fail, 10% of them within the first year — what solution does an MVP offer? And How would you go about it?

In this exclusive, free webinar, our experts, with a total of 27+ years of experience between the two, go over how you can implement a design sprint when building your MVP.
